During day 1 of the ICANN60 ccNSO Members Meeting, Annebeth Lange (.no) and Nick Wenban-Smith (.uk) provided an update on the policy development process for geographic names at the Top Level.
Annebeth is a co-chair of the New gTLD Subsequent Procedures Policy Development Process Working Group, which seeks volunteers to serve on a new sub team, known as Work Track 5 (WT5). This Work Track will
focus exclusively on the treatment of geographic names at the top level.

Annebeth Lange (.no): “Many issues need to be addressed by this group. In my opinion, they are of great relevance to the ccTLD community in different ways. WT5 is part of a GNSO policy development process:
We need the momentum from ccTLDs across all geographic regions, in terms of participation in the WT5.”

Regular online meetings will be scheduled starting after 20 November 2017, in accordance with the Work Track's work plan, which it is expected to develop as one of its first tasks. Drafting of WT5 Terms of
Reference is currently underway with the WT leadership and will be finalized in the near future.
