Greetings Alejandra,

I’ve been awaiting your input into this matter, since you are an alumna of the program.  Thank you for commenting on this.  I have the utmost respect for your opinion on this matter.

Whilst I think the program overall has merit, I also think (with my SOPC member hat on now) that it needs proper metrics (as do so many other ICANN initiatives) in order for the Community at large to be able to properly assess the effectiveness of the program.

Best Regards,

/Stephen

Dear Katrina and All

As a fellowship alumni I believe the program was very good for me, since in 2011 (Singapore 41) it provided me with a good idea on what ICANN does and how it is organized, and in 2012 (San José 43) it allowed me to find my way within the ccNSO. It was in 2013 (Beijing 46) that I started actively participating in the ccNSO until this day, either with ccNSO travel funds or with .gt's travel funds (that we manage to negotiate a few times to keep our participation within the ccNSO steady).

Other cases of people currently active in the ccNSO that are fellowship alumni:

  1. Rafael Ibarra (.sv) - ICANN Board Member
  2. Margarita Valdes (.cl) - ccNSO Councillor
  3. Rosalía Morales (.cr) - member of CCWG on Use of Country/Territory Names as TLDs and ccNSO Strategic and Operational Standing Committee.
  4. Jelena Ožegović (.rs) - member of ICANN On Boarding Program for the ccNSO
  5. Grigori Saghyan (.am) - member of CCWG on Use of Country/Territory Names
  6. Andrew Molivurae (.vu) - presented at ccTLD news.

Please, take note that my memory is not good and I haven't cross referenced all fellowship alumni with ccNSO working group members, so it is very likely that I have omitted someone from the previous list (my apologies in advance).

Many other ccTLD people have received ICANN fellowships that had allowed them to participate in ICANN meetings (and to attend ccNSO members meetings), that I'm sure otherwise wouldn't have been impossible. The full lists are here: https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/fellowship-participants-2016-04-19-en

I've created a Google Doc with the questionnaire (https://goo.gl/o8A4vZ) but felt strange filling it, since I know a lot of this program for being a part of it and remaining in touch with it as a Community Mentor. I wonder if it is the same for everyone else. In any case, I leave it open for edition if you would like to use it.

Best regards,

Alejandra

FYI: Invitation to submit comments on the Fellowship Programme

Dear Councillors,

This is the opportunity to submit our views on the Fellowship Programme, should we wish to do so. The deadline had been moved to 6 April.

What are your thoughts? Should we fill in the attached questionnaire on behalf of the Council? Any thoughts on the Program in general?

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Dear Community Leaders:

With the discussion at ICANN61, here is an opportunity for your inputs on the Fellowship Program.

Questions about the program and responses to the questionnaire should be sent to fellowshipconsultation@icann.org by 30 March 2018.

Dear Community Leaders:

We’re launching a community-wide consultation on the Fellowship Program to help inform its future direction.

The attached paper provides an overview of the program, including a breakdown of the data available on the Fellows, a questionnaire, and other details about the consultation process.

We anticipate that there will be interest in further discussing this process and our team will be available to speak with community groups about the current Fellowship Program and the questionnaire at ICANN61 or remotely. Questions about the program and responses to the questionnaire should be sent to fellowshipconsultation@icann.org by 30 March 2018.

Grateful if you could share this informationso that each community group is aware of and has the opportunity to participate in the consultation.

Best,
