GRC: World Café on sustaining legitimacy. What would you do to enhance participation in ccNSO Decision-Making?

The ccNSO Guidelines Review Committee (GRC) is organising a World Café.  Those who attended ICANN78 in Hamburg, or the virtual follow-up in December 2023 might be familiar with the concept. The focus of the discussions at ICANN80 is Sustaining Legitimacy: What would you do to enhance participation in ccNSO Decision-Making?  This session does not include remote participations and will be in person only. A fully virtual follow-up session will be scheduled prior to ICANN81.

On behalf of the GRC, we are pleased to invite you to an in-person World Café event in Kigali. The GRC has been greatly impressed with the active participation of our members in these events, and we have selected a topic based on your previous input that we believe you will find engaging. If you are unable to attend in person, we will host a follow-up session online after ICANN80.

The purpose of the ccNSO Guidelines Review Committee (GRC) is to review the current guidelines and to ascertain whether they reflect current practices and working methods, identify potential gaps, and based on this analysis propose changes to the current guidelines to the Council.

Topics for discussion include, among others: 

• Outcomes from the meeting, including the World Café and the policy update session
• Next steps in the ccNSO Policy Development Process regarding the proposed policy (part A of the Members Report) which aims to provide a framework to ICANN and the broader community for:
  • the selection of IDN country code Top-Level Domain (ccTLD) strings and variants thereof, 
  • the delegation, transfer, revocation, and retirement of the selected IDN ccTLD string and its variants, 
  • the use of the review mechanism pertaining to decisions concerning the delegation, transfer, revocation, and retirement of IDN ccTLDs.  

Additional topics for the ccNSO Council meeting will be made available on its workspace.
