Hi Bart,
You can use DNS tools to query for "*.cm" and see what kind of response is returned. My tool just issues a query like that for each of the TLDs.
A poor mans way to do it is simply to go to a web browser and type in some improbable address like
http://ieurhfqihfqibcqirbcqirvqe.cm. In TLDs with wildcards that will return a response, for example in .ws: http://ieurhfqihfqibcqirbcqirvqe.ws
Note that such inspection is not perfect. It tests for classical wildcards that should match for anything. It would not detect synthesis that is selective - for example, a registry could theoretically synthesise responses only to domains that it thinks are mis-spelled and provide a suggestion on where to go. There is no programmatic way to determine if that happens.
