Subject: Selection of ICANN Meeting Locations
Dear Katrina,
It has come to my attention that certain members of the ccNSO have expressed concerns regarding the criteria used for the selection of ICANN Meeting locations. We take those concerns very seriously. In response, we wanted to share with you our current approach. We understand that this will remain a topic of discussion with the Board. Nevertheless, we thought you should know our approach. If you wish to share this explanation, please feel free to do so as it may help the discussion in Hyderabad.
As a global organization and community, ICANN needs to conduct meetings in all parts of the world to interact with our existing stakeholders, and to attract new ones. One of the objectives of ICANN Meetings is to ensure free and open access to and participation in the ICANN multistakerholder model of governance. ICANN’s operation of its public meetings – open to all stakeholders interested in our activities and demonstrating respect for all participants – is one of the best ways to showcase our values of transparency, openness, inclusiveness and global direction.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Nick
