Dear ccNSO Council:

This is an update about the work of the Work Stream Two Community Coordination Group (WS2 CCG) to which you have appointed me as a member.

The CCG held its first meeting on April 5th, 2022, at which time we focused on administrative matters such as introductions and initial expectations. You can see the CCG members and alternates and their affiliations here. 

We confirmed that the CCG is a discussion body and not a decision-making body and as a consequence, at least for now, we do not need a chairperson. 

We also confirmed that the first topic of substantive discussion would be on the WS2 diversity recommendations. In that regard, ICANN staff support has arranged for a DEI-consultant (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) to help the CCG navigate  discussions on diversity. The consultant is Dr. Aerial Ellis [linkedin.com]. 

We met again on May 5th at which time we had some brief initial discussions on diversity. Dr. Ellis attended this meeting, introduced herself, and listened to our introductory comments regarding diversity. I expect she will weigh  in on the topic at our next meeting.
