Dear Colleagues,
As per our discussion and support for alternative B, last week I sent an email to Maarten and Leon presenting our idea to invite them to the meeting with ccLTD-related directors of the Board. They appreciated the constructive suggestion, acknowledged their interest in possible ways to improve effective interaction and promised to get back to us as soon as possible.
Meanwhile we have received the following email (see below).
Kind regards,
]{atrina

Subject: [ICANN Community Leaders] PLEASE READ - Stakeholders/Board interaction ICANN70 VIRTUAL
Sent on behalf of Maarten Botterman, Chair, ICANN Board of Directors
Dear Constituency and Stakeholder Groups Chairs,
*_Please reply no later than _**_Friday 26 February 2021 _*
First of all, let me take the opportunity of this email to reiterate, on behalf of the Board, our Best Wishes to you and your families for a healthy 2021. We have all been very affected, and still are, by this long-lasting pandemic and will never spread enough of those positive thoughts and messages of hope for a brighter future! We are certainly very much looking forward to seeing you in-person, hopefully later this year, even if today it is not possible to predict already when this will be the responsible thing to do again.
The Board has recently been briefed thoroughly on your input to the Meetings Strategy and wanted to thank you all for your constructive contribution to this important survey. The suggested changes will be implemented by org, and the Board will of course actively participate in the dialogue to find out the best possible way forward in this, together. ICANN70 in March (8-11 prep week and 22-25 ICANN week) will mark our next step in this.
In line with the decision to organize this upcoming ICANN Meeting virtually considering the current worldwide situation with regards to COVID-19, various groups are arranging different times to engage the Board, either before, during or after the ICANN Meeting. We have learned to appreciate the opportunity to have this conversation during ICANN meetings, and the survey conducted after ICANN69 confirmed that you do, as well. So we want to take the next step in this.
And whereas up to ICANN69 we had grown to a habit of proposing a subject to you to discuss during our meetings (the “ask from the Board”), this time we would only like to invite you to propose questions for the Board to answer, or a subject to engage in an open discussion during our time together, in the context of ICANN70.
Your suggested questions and/or topic for discussion will be published and circulated in the Policy digest, as always, which will facilitate transparency and allow the groups to deepen their own understanding of their peers’ point of views on different issues.
We would be very grateful if you could send to Board Operations (board-ops-team@icann.org) <mailto:board-ops-team@icann.org)> your single topic or the list of questions, in order of priority, no later than *_Friday 26 February 2021 or sooner_*. For information, we are _not_ changing the current total time allotted per group.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts, questions or topics of interest and to exchange with you constructively and virtually.
Best regards,
Maarten Botterman
