I’ll be traveling at the time of the ccNSO call today, but I wanted nevertheless to send an update on the MAG meeting that ended yesterday in Paris.
The important issues for the group are the following:
- NETmundial’s takeaways and improvements for the IGF will be captured in a main session and an open MAG meeting at the IGF (this last is still tbd), as well as a session to be lead by the NETmundial organizers on day 0.
- There was great convergence of topics addressed by workshop proponents and NETmundial’s interests (how to implement multistakeholder modes of governance; Net Neutrality; privacy and surveillance).
- There will be a main session on Sept. 5 on the IANA stewardship transition which will cover both IANA and ICANN’s accountability. I’m working on the session’s paper with other colleagues, most of them from the technical community from the MAG.
- 2 workshops are directly concerned with ccTLDs: the joint RO ccTLD submission on ccTLDs and their role in IG literacy and the submission by the Oxford Internet Institute and Maria Farrell on ccTLDs and cybersecurity. There are many other sessions addressing direct ccTLD concerns (IDN, IANA, etc) as well, as soon as the list is cleared on the IGF website I’ll be sending the link with the selection to the group.
I’m happy to expand any of these issues or any other aspects related with the meeting.
