Topic: 10 -2017 : Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) Implementation Guidelines

Summary of request: The Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) Implementation Guidelines relate to
the IDN registration policies and practices, designed to minimize the risk of cybersquatting and consumer confusion, to cater to the interests of communities using local languages and scripts. Following the Call
for Community Experts[icann.org], a Working Group (WG) was formed in to review the current version (3.0[icann.org])
of the IDN
Implementation Guidelines[icann.org], last updated in 2011.
Current Status: The WG has finalized its work and solicits feedback of the community on the Guidelines
for the Implementation of the Internationalized Domain Names 4.0[icann.org] [PDF, 363 KB], the proposed update to the current Guidelines
Next Steps: The IDN Guidelines WG (IDNGWG) will review and incorporate the comments received from the community and finalize the next version of the IDN
Implementation Guidelines. The final version of the Guidelines published by the WG will be presented to ICANN Board of Directors for approval.

The main audience of the Guidelines is Top-Level Domain (TLD) registries that offer or plan to offer registrations of IDNs under their Registry Agreements. For other registries (e.g. Country Code Top Level Domain
Name registries) this document is intended as the best current practice. These Guidelines are also intended for registrars offering registration of IDNs.

Topic: 11 – 2017: Enhancing Accountability Guidelines for Good Faith
Originator: Cross Community Working Group on Enhancing ICANN Accountability (CCWG-Accountability)
Summary of request:
This Public Comment seeks community input on the CCWG-Accountability Work Stream 2 draft
recommendations[icann.org] [PDF, 596 KB] on Guidelines for standards of conduct presumed to be in good faith associated with exercising removal of individual Directors of the ICANN Board (Guidelines for Good Faith or GGF). These draft
recommendations[icann.org] were developed by the CCWG-Accountability as required by the final report of the Cross Community Working Group on Enhancing ICANN Accountability (CCWG-Accountability, Work Stream 1).
The CCWG-Accountability reviewed these draft
recommendations[icann.org] at its 22 February 2017 plenary meeting and approved their publication to gather public comments.
Following the public comment period the inputs will be analyzed by the CCWG-Accountability WS2 who will consider amending its recommendations in light of the comments received and will publish a report on
the results of the public consultation. If significant changes are required as a result of the public consultation the CCWG-Accountability WS2 may opt to have a second public consultation on the amended recommendations. If there are no significant changes
required, the CCWG-Accountability WS2 will forward the final recommendations on improving ICANN’s Transparency to its Chartering Organizations for approval and then to the ICANN Board for consideration and adoption.

Recommendations For New gTLDs Available for Public Comment

The report examines the extent to which the introduction of new generic top-level domains (gTLDs) has promoted competition, consumer trust and consumer choice in the domain name system. It also assesses the
effectiveness of the safeguards ICANN has implemented to mitigate issues related to the introduction of new gTLDs. The report is available for public comment through 27 April 2017. Feedback will be incorporated into a Final Report.
