join the drafting team - ccNSO statement: Label Generation Rules for the Root Zone Version 2 (RZ-LGR-2) out for public comments
Dear all, The ccNSO Secretariat is looking for volunteers to join a drafting team, to draft a ccNSO Statement in response to the request for public comments described below. If interested, you are kindly invited to contact the ccNSO Secretariat ccnsosecretariat@icann.org<mailto:ccnsosecretariat@icann.org> at your earliest convenience, latest next week Wednesday 21 June (23:59 UTC). Purpose: To determine valid top-level Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) labels and their variant labels, the community had finalized the Procedure to Develop and Maintain the Label Generation Rules for the Root Zone in Respect of IDNA Labels (https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/draft-lgr-procedure-20mar13-en.p... ) The Procedure requires community-based Generation Panels (GPs), organized for relevant scripts, to convene and propose specific rules. These rules are evaluated and then integrated into the Root Zone Label Generation Rules (RZ-LGR) by the Integration Panel (IP). Current status: The Integration Panel (IP) has successfully evaluated the Root Zone Label Generation Rules (LGR) Proposals (https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/lgr-proposals-2015-12-01-en ) for five additional scripts, Ethiopic, Georgian, Lao, Khmer and Thai, submitted by the respective GPs, following the release of these individual proposals for public comments. The IP has integrated these proposals, along with Arabic script already integrated into the first version of the Root Zone LGR (RZ-LGR-1: https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/root-zone-lgr-2015-06-21-en ), to develop the second version of the Root Zone LGR (RZ-LGR-2: https://www.icann.org/sites/default/files/lgr/lgr-2-overview-01jun17-en.pdf ) Next steps: As per the Procedure, RZ-LGR-2 is being released for public comments to gather community feedback for its finalization. Close date of the public comments is 24 Jul 2017 23:59 UTC. Suggested is to submit a ccNSO statement, to support IDN ccTLDs and ccTLDs that offer IDNs.
