UPDATE: ICANN67 ccNSO planning meeting: Monday, 24 Febr (noon UTC)
Dear Colleagues, Earlier today, the ccNSO Council, Chairs of Working Groups and Committees, and some community members had a call to discuss the impact and the way forward in light of the ICANN Board decision regarding ICANN67 (remote participation-only). It was agreed to limit the sessions organised by the ccNSO to meetings that "must happen". Based on that discussion, I can inform you at this stage that: 1. Tech Day and the ccNSO Members Meeting are cancelled. Sessions or presentations are deferred - to the extent possible – to the ICANN68 public meeting. 2. Working Groups and Committees will continue their work according to their regular year-round schedule, but not as part of ICANN67. Some WGs are still having internal discussions on the best way forward. 3. The ccNSO Council “must meet” to make annual appointments, including of the Chair and Vice-Chair(s). The scheduled time for this meeting is not clear yet (the most probable date – 12 March, 18:00 UTC). Looking at updates, and wherever possible, we will ask WGs, Committees, and external presenters to report via written updates. During ICANN meetings, the ccNSO typically meets with ALAC, GAC, and GNSO. We have reached out to those groups with a proposal to defer the meetings. GAC has already confirmed cancellation. Generally, we also meet with the ICANN Board at Community Forums, and - if they keep bilateral meetings on their schedule - we might ask the Board for a meeting. However, in that case we need relevant topics. The deadline to submit topics is today. One more action item from today’s meeting: a suggestion for the ccNSO Council Travel Funding Committee to consider accommodating funding requests from presenters scheduled for Cancun meeting and willing to go and present at the next meeting. Finally, a limited number of ICANN67 sessions will continue to be held via remote participation only. Tomorrow is the next ICANN organized ICANN67 meeting schedule call at which SOACs will share their views. After that call and when more details are known, we will inform you.
