FW: first draft of suggested ccNSO input on the Budget and Ops plan
All, I have had no response on this. I realise everyone is busy but we have to get our comments in by 25 June. Can I take it that no response means everyone is happy for it to go out? Hi Chris, With apologies for my delay in commenting.... Thanks for this draft, which looks good to me. A couple of things I would suggest adding: * an observation that the cost cutting measures appear to be very short-term. In addition, they may in themselves be counter-productive. * a comment that there remains the need to better prioritise the strategic initiatives to ensure that they fit with resources – in terms of financial resources, staff capacity and community capacity. In addition to Lesley's comment, I'd like to see More explanation is needed on how acivity of DNS-CERT is planned - just defer : the next year may have costly activities or - essentially reconsidered eg. lots of cost for operational role will be avoided Hiro On Sun, 20 Jun 2010 13:56:31 +0000 Lesley Cowley <lesley@nominet.org.uk> wrote:

Hi Chris, Two comments: 1) Now that we know that strategy is but a "wish list"...what strategic priorities are expected to be funded, versus which are likely not going to be funded. 2) Can ICANN differentiate between structural vs discretionary costs (fixed vs variable). In other words, can they tell us what must be funded versus what is optional and hence the prioritization of what can be cut /modified with the least impact. Hi, Also building upon exchanges from earlier: - We would encourage longer-term cost cutting initiatives or actions to initiate a full review of costs.
