Dear All Below please find a suggested agenda for the ALAC/ccNSO meeting. We would appreciate your feedback on the items so we can finalise. You can remove topics or add any topics you'd like to discuss.. Jacqueline ALAC/ccNSO Joint Meeting Agenda 1. Geographic Regions • Discussing joint points of agreement on way forward 2. IDN Fast Track • Expert Language Committee and Opportunity for Objections 3. New gTLDs • Their potential beneficial impact on ccTLDs and opportunities for establishing qualification criteria 4. Public Comment Period length • Near-impossibility of gaining global consensus in 30 days, especially in multiple languages 5. Improving communications between the AC and the SO • At the regional level • At the local level
Perhaps you could consider "participation" as an issue that is common to both ALAC and the ccNSO, and on which the ccNSO is conducting significant consultation using a working group whose charter is available online. ALAC/ccNSO Joint Meeting Agenda 1. Geographic Regions o Discussing joint points of agreement on way forward 2. IDN Fast Track o Expert Language Committee and Opportunity for Objections 3. New gTLDs o Their potential beneficial impact on ccTLDs and opportunities for establishing qualification criteria 4. Public Comment Period length o Near-impossibility of gaining global consensus in 30 days, especially in multiple languages 5. Improving communications between the AC and the SO o At the regional level o At the local level
Maybe we can have the 5th item - coordination/cooperation at regional and local levels - work with the ccNSO participation WG items - what would you think we should narrow it down to? What are the issues that have come up to date in the participation WG? So far on the ALAC side we have seen problems with langage and understanding of the ICANN policy issues and are working on a project to develop mulitlanguage briefing documents for each policy issue both before and during any comment period. I took it that item 5 was addressing liaisons at the various levels but I would be happy to include or combine it with participation as one topic. Regards, Paulos On 28 May 2008 at 10:18, Jacqueline A. Morris wrote:
