Questions suggestions - for the session with ccNSO related Board members @ ICANN 73
Hi everyone At our meeting just now we discussed questions to put on the table at the session with Board members at ICANN73 in March. This email is just to nudge you for ideas. Some ideas from the call were: - PDP on ccTLD Retirement - regulatory and legislative developments in the EU and impact on ccTLDs/ICANN Do you have other suggestions? Share them back with the group by reply email :) cheers Jordan -- *Jordan Carter (he/him)* Group Chief Executive *InternetNZ | Ipurangi Aotearoa* Helping New Zealanders harness the power of the Internet www.internetnz.nz *M* +64 21 442 649 *O* +64 4 555 0123 [image: InternetNZ]
Can we get early confirmation that the ICANN meeting in the Hague will be hybrid? Obviously there’s still the issues around lateral flow test lottery every time you travel but basically travel seems to be well on track to get back to some semblance of normality now. I know the SOPC will be more on the case but I’ve noticed that lack of travel and meetings has conveniently created massive financial surpluses for ICANN. I’ve been a bit concerned about the spending potentially on this new WHOIS SSAD project (USD xx millions potentially) and these redacted IT outsourcing contracts from the last board report. It would be good to understand how much transparency into the cost/ benefit the community will have ahead of major financial investments by ICANN, since now the reserves are very healthy we should ensure they stay that way. To follow up on Jordan’s observation… A lack of ICANN meeting travel expenses => unexpected surplus => serious headcount growth… I hate to beat my old, worn out drum, but could they not use this opportunity to fully fund out the reserve fund?
