As usual, this is an informal meeting intended to prepare for all the sessions in which we are directly participating or might be relevant for our work as Councillors, therefore, I hope you will all be able to attend. Below you will find the agenda for our prep call. Please note that: * We are still missing people to lead a topic or to report back from a session during our council meeting in ICANN 72. Think about this and don't hesitate to volunteer (or you might be voluntold 😉 ) * I have not included all the ccTLD relevant sessions. Joint meeting with the GNSO Council, Wednesday 20 October 2021, 19.00 UTC The topics we will discuss are: 1. ICANN's Prioritization framework. The SOPC has been very active and has done a couple of workshops on this topic. They will also have a session at ICANN 72. What are our respective views on the framework? * Proposed lead for the topic: Giovanni. * What are the ccNSO main messaging points? 1. Related, how do the respective Councils prioritize their work? What method is used, and which activities are part of that prioritization effort? * Proposed lead for the topic: Jordan. * Sharing with GNSO the evolution of the role and responsibilities of the Triage Committee and the proposed method for prioritization and how it will be used. 1. As a “chartering organizations”: CSC Effectiveness Review 2.O * Who will lead this part? * What are the main messages/ expectations? 1. How is the coordination between IDN ePDP & ccPDP4 (variant management sub-group) going? Any need to change the set-up of the coordination? * Who will lead this part? * Announce the appointment of Anil as alternate ccNSO appointed liaison to the GNSO EPDP effort. * Are there any concerns from a PDP oversight perspective? * Question for GNSO: understanding that GNSO requested possible deferral of the IDN Guidelines v.04 is correct, and if so could GNSO Council explain the need to defer? * ccNSO response to GNSO EPDP questionnaire: referred to the ccNSO ccPDP4 WG, and Variant Management sub-group specifically. 2. Meeting with the ICANN Board of Directors, Thursday 28 October, 16:00-17:00 UTC ccNSO Topics: 1. Introduce ccPDP on retirement to the Board, and ask Board to clarify next steps and timing of these steps and what is expected from the ccNSO, either the WG, the Council or membership? * The suggestion is that Stephen will provide the introduction and we open the floor to the board for Q&A on the proposals, and then discuss next steps. 1. Amendment Article 10 and Annex B to enable the inclusion of IDNccTLD Managers in the ccNSO. * Goal is to get clarity on next steps. * Who will lead this from our – ccNSO – perspective? 1. Speech from Nigel Roberts: as you all know Nigel will step down from the Board at the end of the AGM. * Nigel has been invited and accepted the opportunity to share thoughts with the ccNSO and Board. Board topic: "Please provide input/comments on how you think we could efficiently identify and work more closely with Governments globally, as well as educate, train and interact when it comes to geopolitical issues relating to ICANN’s mission." Dear colleagues I will most likely not join you this evening for the prep call, and if that is the case then please accept my apologies. The time is 0100 local here. I’ll do my best but it’s the worst time for meets! I have one suggestion to share which is about the meeting with the ICANN Board, and their topic they asked for ideas about - their work educating governments. We should express a view, I think, that Icann needs to be clear about its very limited role in relation to ccTLDs. It’s important that governments don’t get the idea that ‘Icann controls the DNS’ and at every chance, Icann could and I think should be clear about the distinction between cctld and gtld realities.
