Alas, the input from the other participants in the WG were not overwhelming, but comments from Roelof and Martin were welcome and are incorporated in the document. We send it on the ccNSO mailing list today, with the information that it will constitute our submission under the new gTLD process (New gTLD Applicant Guidebook). The comment period closes 15th December (extended), so any further comments from members in the ccNSO must be in our hands at the latest Friday 13th at noon, our time. Provided no wild protests arise, we will submit the final document to ICANN Friday afternoon. To answer your question below, we would be grateful if you could send this document to the council and possibly mention it during your council meeting tomorrow. Views and hopefully support from the council will be most welcome. Best regards, Annebeth Chris Disspain wrote:

Chris, which way would be most useful to move forward?
Best regards,

Thanks to the WG that produced this document. Regarding: "No name of a territory listed on the ISO 3166-1 or a meaningful abbreviation of it... shall be available as a gTLD". I have one concern. The current process takes into account what we are proposing BUT also in case of uncertainty there is a possibility of a consultation with GAC representatives, governments, relevant community whether or not the proposed label is actually a meaningful representation of an specific country/territory. What we are suggesting is to get rid of that verification and expecting they could apply it as a rule, regardless of its subjectivity, so it is a double edged sword. So, my suggestion is that: "No label listed on the ISO-3166-1 alpha-2 AND alpha-3 lists shall be available as a gTLD" And keeping the possibility that any GAC rep may have a say in this issue if it is relevant to their government. Anyway, I think that no government is thinking seriously to launch a gTLD of their own country and adhere to the ICANN rules (policies and finantials). Best regards, Oscar
