Dear Chris,
In May of this year, ICANN staff conducted an Attack and Disaster Response Planning (ADRP) workshop jointly with the APTLD Association. The goal was to increase awareness and readiness for natural disasters as well as cyber-related attacks.
ICANN envisions expanding this workshop at both the managerial and technical level to help assist the broader community of ccTLDs to prepare for a range of contingencies. The intent of this initiative includes a geographically cyclic approach to working within the regions with the ccTLD managers and operators in an ongoing effort to jointly identify risk, develop plans and exercise response capabilities as a part of a continuing process to enhance the capacities of the ccTLD community.
As this is within the 2008-2011 ICANN Strategic Plan, the staff requests the assistance with the ccNSO to engage in a dialog with the ccTLD operators regarding our desire to explore the utility and implementation approach for such an initiative in their respective regions.
We look forward to hearing the response of the ccNSO and are excited to discuss this opportunity further with interested stakeholders within your supporting organization.
Thank you,
Steve
