ICANN80 ccNSO Members Meeting tomorrow (Wednesday): what to expect?
Hello All, Tomorrow is day two of the ICANN80 ccNSO Members Meeting! The ccNSO program on Wednesday, 12 June 2024 includes several sessions that are open to all with an interst in ccTLD-related matters. UAC: ccTLDs and UA Readiness Wednesday, 12 June 2024 | 09:00-10:15 local (07:00-08:15 UTC) https://sched.co/1dr2X ─ At ICANN80, the ccNSO Universal Acceptance Committee (UAC) will facilitate a session, focusing on the UAC work plan and promoting the use of the UAC Library and e-mail list, as useful resources for ccTLDs. The UAC will also inform the ccTLDs present on the relevance of UA Day for ccTLDs as well as the results of surveys to date on UA readiness for ccTLDs and the possible need for a dedicated survey. At ICANN79, the ccTLDs explored some of these gaps. At the ICANN80 session, the group will discuss the next steps with ICANN org and the community. Moreover, ccNSO Council received questions from the ICANN Board Caucus, related to the implementation of the proposed review mechanism policy (ccPDP3-RM). IGLC: How ccTLDs contribute to a better world: In pursuit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Wednesday, 12 June 2024 | 13:45-15:00 (11:45-13:00 UTC) https://sched.co/1dr2f ─ At ICANN80, the ccNSO Internet Governance Liaison Committee (IGLC) is organising a session to explore how the Global Digital Compact (GDC) and the 20-year review of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20) can accelerate progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and the unique role ccTLDs can play in this pursuit. The session showcases the relevance of the SDGs to ccTLDs and concrete actions by ccTLDs, as well as partnerships that drive progress towards their achievement. This comprehensive document provides information about the upcoming WSIS+20 review, the Global Digital Compact (GDC), their implications for country code top-level domains and the pivotal opportunity for ccTLDs to influence the future of internet governance. The document outlines actionable steps for ccTLDs to engage in these global digital governance processes, highlighting the importance of building relationships, participating in consultations, and contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
