Dear Colleagues, The RDS-WHOIS2 review team have finalised the scope of their review. It still needs to be adopted by the Board but the direction of travel is clear now. We need to review it and decide on our further steps wrt participation in the review. As you remember, we deferred our participation (appointment of Members to the team) until the scope is defined. Kind regards, ]{atrina -----Original Message----- From: Alan Greenberg [mailto:alan.greenberg@mcgill.ca] Sent: Wednesday, October 25, 2017 12:01 AM To: Katrina Sataki <katrina@nic.lv> Cc: Susan Kawaguchi <susankpolicy@gmail.com>; Cathrin Bauer-Bulst <cathrin.bauer-bulst@ec.europa.eu> Subject: RDS-WHOIS2 Review Scope Hi Katrina, The RDS-WHOIS2 Review Team has almost completed its scope. It is final subject to a last proof-read and review by the Review Team. It is far wider than the original limited scope that was proposed - to only review the implementation of the last RT's recommendations. The scope that will be submitted to the Board is attached, and it includes: - A review of the implementation of first RT's Recommendations (including an evaluation of the implementation, its effectiveness at addressing the original issue (the limited scope proposal). - Identify changes in the current WHOIS since the last RT and identify any issues. - Evaluate the extent to which the current system meets the legitimate needs of law enforcement - Evaluate the extent to which the current system addresses consumer trust. - Evaluate the extent to which the current system safeguards registrant data. - Assess the effectiveness and transparency of ICANN Contractual Compliance. - Assess the current Bylaw regarding RDS-WHOIS Reviews In all cases, the scope includes making recommendations if applicable. If the above shorthand differed from the attached document, the document is the authoratative version. The RT will not be formally meeting in Abu Dhabi but I would be glad to meet with you if you feel that is useful. My two Vice-Chairs may be available as well. The RT will resume with its meetings shortly after ICANN60, and will also be breaking down into a number of sub-temas to address subsets of the scope. Regards, Alan
