Dear Councillors, After our exciting workshop in Kobe, we agreed to have workshops at every meeting as those workshops can serve as a source for learning, pro-active exchange of view and ideas, as well as a way to get more involved in the work of the ccNSO at large and the Council in particular. However, after reviewing the block schedule for the Marrakech meeting, I am afraid we will have to postpone the workshop to our meeting in Montreal. The main reasons for that are: 1) This is a short meeting that is supposed to start on Monday and end on Thursday. Anything outside those dates needs to be justified. We could try to get a slot on Sunday morning (Sunday afternoon Byron and I will have a meeting with other SO/AC leaders and CEO) but we cannot extend travel dates to our funded Councillors to arrive on time for that meeting slot, i.e. on Saturday. Therefore Sunday morning does not work. 2) PDP WG asked for a slot to meet early in the week. Their meeting currently is scheduled on Monday morning. Council prep meeting is on Monday during lunch time. After the lunch there is SOPC meeting and Tech Day. We should not schedule our workshop in parallel with the Tech day. 3) Tuesday and Wednesday - our members meeting days. We should not schedule anything against those sessions. Wednesday afternoon we have our Council face-to-face meeting. 4) Thursday early morning (around 8 am) might work schedule-wise but probably is not a good idea as some of us might be already leaving. Plus, we will be too tired to have a meaningful workshop. Therefore, I suggest that we skip the workshop in Marrakech and prepare better for the one in Marrakech. Any other thoughts/ideas? Thank you! Kind regards, ]{atrina
Thanks Katrina I enjoyed the workshop and it was a good ice breaker for me at least as a newcomer to Council. So I agree this is a good idea and we should look to hold more. And I can see with crowded agendas that these are going to be hard to schedule, especially in the policy forum meeting which is short. I guess my first thought was what topic should be chosen for the workshop? Strikes me that should be starting point, if there’s a good workshop topic then we should try hard to fit it into the schedule, but if we are scratching around looking for topics then let’s not complicate ICANN meetings which already as you have pointed out are pretty hectic. Dear All I agree with Katrina's suggestion to skip the workshop in Marrakech and prepare one for Montreal. Dear Councillors,
After our exciting workshop in Kobe, we agreed to have workshops at every meeting as those workshops can serve as a source for learning, pro-active exchange of view and ideas, as well as a way to get more involved in the work of the ccNSO at large and the Council in particular.
However, after reviewing the block schedule for the Marrakech meeting, I am afraid we will have to postpone the workshop to our meeting in Montreal. The main reasons for that are:
1) This is a short meeting that is supposed to start on Monday and end on Thursday.
3) Tuesday and Wednesday – our members meeting days.
Thank you!
Kind regards,
]{atrina
