Vote on Introducing new gTLDs document
Dear Councillors, Once again I'm attaching the input from the WG on the mechanism for protection of Geographical names as proposed in the Draft Applicant Guidebook for new gTLDs http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-2-23oct08-en.htm. On today's council call it was agreed that it would send a strong signal if the ccNSO Council would endorse the WG report and submit it as a ccNSO Council document. Therefore, we must launch a quick vote amongst the Councillors on this. If you are in favor of endorsement and submission please vote in favour. If you object or abstain, make that clear as well. The last date to submit this document as input is the 15th December. To enable this we would need to have your vote no later than 14 December, but preferably today. We send it on the ccNSO mailing list today, with the information that it will constitute our submission under the new gTLD process (New gTLD Applicant Guidebook). The comment period closes 15th December (extended), so any further comments from members in the ccNSO must be in our hands at the latest Friday 13th at noon, our time. Provided no wild protests arise, we will submit the final document to ICANN Friday afternoon.
To answer your question below, we would be grateful if you could send this document to the council and possibly mention it during your council meeting tomorrow. Views and hopefully support from the council will be most welcome.
