Re: [ccnso-council] FW: Resignation letter - ALAC Liaison to the ccNSO
Congregations Barrack! Now that you have 2 hats, please be informing us which hat you are wearing when you speak :))) Thank you. Kind regards, Abdalla On Mar 5, 2018 7:29 PM, Katrina Sataki <katrina@nic.lv> wrote:
Dear Colleagues,
Unfortunately, Maureen has to step down from her role as the ALAC liaison to the ccNSO Council (see attachment). Do not desprair, though - she is not going to leave the ICANN world. On the contrary, she is going to take upon a role of the Vice Chair of ALAC! Congratulations and best wishes! Although I am very sad that Maureen steps down as the ALAC liason, I am glad that we will continue our fruitful collaboration in the future.
ALAC has already appointed new liason – Barrack Otieno (aka GM of AFTLD). We all know Barrack very well – that makes me pretty certain that we will be able to recognise him even with his new hat on.
Thank you Maureen for your hard work in order to bring our communities closer and help us to understand each other better! Welcome Barrack in your new capacity!
Kind regards,
]{atrina
Dear Abdalla I am sure that Barrack appreciates your congratulations, but I would like to perhaps explain the role of the Liaison so that Barrack does not feel that he is being compromised by any conflicts in this role by having to identify whom he represents when he is in ccNSO (or ALAC) meetings. Barrack is in the enviable position of already being an established member of the ccNSO and he will continue to participate in the ccNSO in this capacity Over the years, he has maintained an interest in end-user perspectives and is now able to bring this knowledgeable experience to benefit both of our organisations in a more formal role. More so than myself, he brings the experience of someone who has worked on both sides of the fence. The ALAC has appointed him as their liaison because they trust that he will convey any ALAC perspectives in a way that will enhance understanding and the continued positive relationship between both organisations. As the ALAC Liaison, Barrack will now be a contributing member of the ALAC Leadership Team, so that his contributions to the ccNSO can include ALAC viewpoints based on high-level discussions that will help to support the end-user perspective. At the same time, we believe he will also be able to provide a balanced ccNSO perspective to our ALAC discussions. We are very fortunate to have been able to find someone who can fill our Liaison role in this way and thank you for your continued support.
