A further update on the Final Report of the CCWG new gTLD Auction Proceeds Working Group
Greetings fellow Council Members, As a follow-up to my correspondence regarding the circulation of the Final Report of the new gTLD Auction Proceeds Cross Community Working Group to the CCWG that I sent to you yesterday, please permit me to provide you an update. A minority statement has been formally filed by the Commercial Stakeholders Group (CSG) from the GNSO. It’s pretty brutal with it’s objection to the “consensus” adoption of Mechanism A, which I described in my previous correspondence. It challenges the “consensus” expressed in the final report. This objection comes from the Intellectual Property Constituency (IPC). Whether it becomes a formal appendix to the CCWG final report, or is referenced as a URL to the CCWG Wiki, is an open question, to be determined by the CCWG Co-chairs. I have advised our ccNSO elected ICANN Board members of this development, as the IPC objection makes specific demands of the ICANN Board. Best Regards, Stephen Deerhake AS Domain Registry
