Dear fellow councillors, We have received an application for ccNSO membership from .ir, the cc for Iran.the application was filed by Alireza Saleh, representing the manager for .ir, the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences. I refer to IANA's "all clear" below and request you to inform me of any objections to .ir's membership before Saturday 8 October 2011. Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences understands that:
(i) membership in the ccNSO is independent of any individual relationship a ccTLD manager has with ICANN or the ccTLD manager's receipt of IANA services. (Article IX Section (4)(3)); and
(ii) currently there are no fees payable for ccNSO membership. However, under the ICANN bylaws (Article IX Section (7) (3)), the ccNSO could in the future, subject to members approval, establish membership fees.
