GNSO Observer position - Statement from Alioune Badara Traore
Dear Councillors, Alioune Badara Traore is interested in the GNSO Observer position. Here is a short statement why he would like to have the position: -- I'm currently administrative contact of .ML before that I was a technical contact and work for implementation of ccTLD in the country. The .ML is member of ccNSO, AFRINIC and is working close with other African ccTLD I am working for installation of registry/registrar system in the manangment of .ML. As new direction of development of Internet and domain names systems, GNSO will the future of growing users of Internet; the post of observer can allow me more understand and transmit at time the way of development. I have not any other charge in this constituency or any other ICANN constituency. Best regards -- The issue will be dealt with during today's Council meeting. Gabi
Gabi, I am aware that Alioune Badara Traore does have the capabilities to handle the GNSO Observer position BUT he has challenges communicating in English as easily evidenced by the short statement that you have presented - assuming you did not retype it, of course. He is very fluent in French. Could you please clarify if GNSO does business in both English and French? These challenges will also show up in reporting back to the ccNSO. If he is in Mexico, please have a chat with him and provide an update on my observations. Paulos, Thanks for pointing this out - ICANN's Regional Liaison for Africa, Anne-Rachel Inne, has indeed expressed the same concern. The GNSO is only operating in English.
