Re: [ccnso-council] Triage recommendations 14-2019 until 20-2019
Hello Councillors, I am fine with the recommendations, however I see no recommendation for renewal .net .org and .asia . Yes, I also noticed "no impact" on ccTLD.I am keen to know in which scenario ccTLD may have impact from these renewals, or we have to just put our stamp for "no objection" on renewal. Another question is: Should we not ask all ccTLD managers, Do they have any issue from the subjected TLDs or not. ?Just learning.. Number: 14-2019 Topic: Volunteers for IRP IOT Request from: ICANN Org Summary: Volunteers are needed to re-compose the Independent Review Process (IRP) Implementation Oversight Team (IOT), which will develop published Supplemental Procedures for ICANN&rsquos Independent Review Process. The work of the IRP IOT is important to ICANN&rsquos accountability and sets many procedures around how IRPs are administered. BACKGROUND Under the ICANN Bylaws, ICANN is required to consult with the SOs and ACs regarding the establishment of the IRP IOT. Last October, the IRP IOT produced an interim set of Supplemental Procedures that were adopted by the ICANN Board during ICANN63, and now a final set of Supplemental Procedures is needed. For many team meetings, the IRP IOT rarely had more than the five participants required for a quorum, and frequently faced challenges meeting a quorum. The goal of this team is to reach a final set of Supplemental Procedures that reflects input from across the ICANN community, which prompts this request for additional volunteers to join. Hi Ajay Just to chip in here as a member of the triage committee. The legacy gTLD contracts between the respective registry operators and ICANN come up for periodic renewal. As part of the transparency of that renewal process, there are standard public comment periods, with each SO/AC being given formal notice. Hence this comes before the ccNSO council. Possibly renewal could be denied in extreme cases where there might have been repeated breaches of registry agreements or some overriding public interest such as malicious behaviours or abuse, but in practice renewal is automatic, and there is no indication of those sorts of issues here. In short to answer your question we don’t as the ccNSO have to approve the renewals or positively signify no objection. Given this is routine gTLD specific business, the view of the triage committee is that this is not a matter where it would be appropriate for there to be a ccNSO input or official position. Of course any individual ccTLD could still put in their own perspectives during the public comment period, although I’m not aware of that ever being done on one of these routine renewals. Still learning here too, so interested in any other perspectives.
