The webinar will present background and assumptions around costs and fees, the org's analysis and considerations, and some questions for discussion. The webinar will be presented in English with interpretation in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish available through the Adigo dial-in line. The fact that ICANN's work, to preserve a single, interoperable Internet, has continued to progress in a year of challenges and uncertainty is a testament to not only to the strength of the ICANN multistakeholder model, but to the tenacity and dedication of the individuals that make up our community. NEW: ICANN's 2021 LAC Engagement Sessions Reached over 3,000 Stakeholders We are pleased to announce that ICANN's Technical Engagement team (OCTO-TE) from the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) in collaboration with the Latin America and Caribbean Stakeholder Engagement team (LAC GSE) completed 41 capacity building sessions open to the entire region – with participants from over 45 countries and territories – for the year 2021. Over 3,000 people participated in these events. This included workshops, training sessions, webinars, tutorials, and speeches on topics such as the Domain Name System (DNS), Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC), Universal Acceptance (UA), Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP), and WHOIS, among others. NEW: Update: Sharing Recent ICANN Work Stream 2 Implementation Progress WS2 of the Cross-Community Working Group on Enhancing ICANN Accountability (CCWG-ACCT) is a fiscal year 2022 (FY22) priority. It represents over 100 accountability and transparency-related recommendations, directed at the org, ICANN Board, and the ICANN community, which serve to ensure ICANN remains accountable to the multistakeholder community. NEW: ICANN Presents Estimated SSAD Costs and Fees to GNSO Council ICANN org has completed its assessment and potential design for the System for Standardized Access/Disclosure (SSAD) as a part of the Operational Design Phase (ODP). The Operational Design Assessment (ODA) is the final outcome of the ODP, which we expect to deliver to the ICANN Board and publish in February 2022. With this work, we have reached a significant milestone in supporting the Board's preparation to consider the Recommendations 1-18 of the Final Report of the GNSO Expedited Policy Development Process (EPDP) on the Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data Phase 2. While I had hoped that my 2020 end-of-year blog would be the last one in which I spoke about unprecedented challenges, this year has again been a testament to the strength of the multistakeholder model in meeting the demands of an ever-evolving Internet ecosystem, at a time when we all depend on the Internet more than ever. NEW: ICANN Launches New gTLD Subsequent Procedures Operational Design Phase On 14 September, we announced a Board decision that directed the ICANN organization (org) President and CEO to conduct an Operational Design Phase (ODP) for the recommendations contained in the Final Report of the New Generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) Subsequent Procedures Policy Development Process. As part of this decision, the ICANN President and CEO was to advise the Board when the work of the ODP would be initiated within the org. After three months of preparations on organizing and allocating resources to execute the work, the org has advised the Board that it is beginning the ODP. Read more.
