Re: [ccTLDcommunity] ICANN Board Nomination Results
Patricio, The nomination period to the board followed the ccNSO Rules and Guidelines, which state ³Mid September announcement Election manager to call for Nominations: € Call for Nomination and secondment² (see http://www.ccnso.icann.org/about/ccnso-rules-and-guidelines-25jun08.pdf, page 26). The call for nominations was made on the 15th September, exactly following the timeline. The rules & guidelines foresee much spare time in case elections and run-off elections need to be held. Such elections can drag on for many months, and the thought is to have a board member appointed by the March meeting at the latest. It is therefore desirable to follow the guidelines as much as possible. Since there was only one candidate during this nomination period, no elections or run-off elections needed to be held and therefore this result was reached very quickly. The ccNSO Rules & Guidelines were adopted in June 2008, which means they were only used once in the past, when appointing Mike Silber to the board. The call for nominations in his case was made on the 17 November 2008. The reason for the delay was entirely because I, acting as election manager, did not realise that the call had to be done earlier. After carefully reading the guidelines, I made sure such a delay would not happen again. I hope this clarifies. I already congratulated Chris privately, by I think it is important to thank him here for his long and tireless service to the ccTLD community, and wish him the best in his new role as member of the ICANN Board.
I have a question for the experts: as I understand it, Chris will be a board member-elect for three meetings before taking his seat: Cartagena, San Francisco and wherever the June meeting is. Are elections to the board always held so much in advance?

Dear all,
The nomination period for a ccNSO representative to the ICANN Board ended last week. The only nominee was Chris Disspain, who accepted the nomination. This means that no election by the ccNSO members is necessary. The ccNSO Council now needs to formally adopt the result of the nomination process to select the representative in accordance with the ICANN bylaws. This will be done at the next Council meeting on the 19 October 2010.
The nomination report is available at http://www.ccnso.icann.org/announcements/announcement-11oct10-en.htm
Congratulations to Chris, who will take seat on the ICANN Board after the ICANN meeting in June 2011.
