If any, what suggestions would you have to enhance ICANN’s effectiveness and efficiency with regards to the process of implementation after adoption of a PDP or Review recommendations? REMINDER: ICANN Continues the Pandemic Internet Access Reimbursement Program Interested ICANN community members must apply in advance of ICANN73, and those who meet the eligibility requirements will be selected to participate. The application process opens Monday, 24 January 2022. The application deadline is Friday, 18 February 2022 at 23:59 UTC. The goal of this program is to facilitate participation in ICANN Public Meetings during the pandemic. It offers community members who have limited Internet capacity financial assistance to increase their Internet bandwidth. Learn more. REMINDER: ICANN73 Prep Week Schedule Now Available ICANN has announced the ICANN73 Prep Week schedule. Prep Week consists of 12 sessions to prepare the ICANN community for the ICANN73 Virtual Community Forum taking place 7–10 March 2022. ICANN73 Prep Week will take place 22–24 February 2022. Sessions will be conducted in English and will feature remote simultaneous interpretation in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish. To attend any of the sessions, please register for ICANN73. Information Sharing NEW: ICANN Community Representatives Chosen to Nominate the IRP Omnibus Standing Panel Slate ICANN org, in consultation with the Supporting Organizations (SOs) and Advisory Committees (ACs), announced the seven individuals who have been selected as the members of the Independent Review Process (IRP) Community Representatives Group. The group is responsible for supporting the SOs and ACs in proposing a slate of nominees, for confirmation by the ICANN Board of Directors, to constitute an omnibus standing panel that will hear and resolve disputes filed under the IRP described in the ICANN Bylaws. Read more. NEW: Quantum Computing and the DNS The ICANN Office of the Chief Technology Office (OCTO) has published OCTO-031: Quantum Computing and the DNS. Quantum computers have attracted the attention of the security community in recent years due to the possibility that they will be able to undermine currently-popular cryptographic algorithms. There are no quantum computers powerful enough to do so today, but as the technology slowly improves, there may come a day when some of the algorithms in use today will be easily broken by this new type of computer Read more. As you may know, ICANN does not make Internet policy, you do, through your participation in our meetings, programs, and policy development processes. Our job is to make sure anyone in the North American region who wants to be, can be, engaged, knowledgeable, and included in realizing ICANN's mission of making the Internet safer, more resilient and interoperable. This important operational procedure helps secure the Domain Name System (DNS) against several security vulnerabilities. REMINDER: Calling for NextGen@ICANN Applications for ICANN74 The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is calling for applications for the NextGen@ICANN program. ICANN wants to hear from university students living and studying in Europe who are interested in the future of the Internet and in participating in the ICANN74 Policy Forum Meeting. ICANN74 is scheduled to be held in The Hague, Netherlands from 13 to 16 June 2022. If ICANN74 is held virtually, the NextGen@ICANN Program will also be held virtually.
