regular & special ccNSO council elections: start nomination period on 29 September 2016 (00:00 UTC)
Dear ccNSO Members, Today, we would like to inform you of the start of the nomination period, on 29 September 2016, of the regular and special council elections. Below you will find all procedural details, which are available here as well: https://ccnso.icann.org/announcements/announcement-29sep16-en.htm · REGULAR COUNCIL ELECTIONS In March 2017, at ICANN58 in Copenhagen (11 and 16 March 2017), the 3-year term of the following ccNSO Councillors ends: Africa: Souleymane Oumtanaga Asia-Pacific: Hirofumi Hotta Europe: Nigel Roberts Latin America/Caribbean: Alejandra Reynoso North America: Stephen Deerhake · SPECIAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS Vika Mpisane has stepped down from the ccNSO Council in July 2016. Therefore, and to fill this vacancy, the members in the African Region will need to elect two candidates: one for the regular council election, and one for the special council election. The person elected for the special council election will take the seat on the council immediately after being elected, and until March 2018. The ccNSO Council has discussed and approved the timeline for both the regular and special Council election at its 1 September meeting. The nomination and secondment procedure starts at Thursday 29 September 2015, 00.00 UTC and closes on Thursday 20 October 2015, 23.59 UTC. After the candidates have formally accepted their nomination the community has an opportunity to interact with candidates at the face-to-face meetings, in Hyderabad that is. PROCEDURE FOR NOMINATIONS AND SECONDING NOMINATIONS The first step of the election process is the nomination, and secondment of the nominations, of candidates. Below you will find all procedural details, which are available here as well: https://ccnso.icann.org/announcements/announcement-29sep16-en.htm The Nomination and Secondment procedure starts at Thursday 29 September 2015, 00.00 UTC and closes on Thursday 20 October 2015, 23.59 UTC. In order to nominate or second a candidate, a ccNSO member must be a member of the ccNSO by 29 September 2016. Nominations should be sent by e-mail to the Election Manager using the included template. Please send your email to: ccnso-nominations@icann.org<applewebdata://644A50D4-576B-4667-86AC-9E90A0FE74DE/ccnso-nominations@icann.org> PLEASE NOTE: If you send your Nomination or Secondment, you will receive an email asking you to confirm that you have sent an email to ccnso-nominations@icann.org<applewebdata://644A50D4-576B-4667-86AC-9E90A0FE74DE/ccnso-nominations@icann.org>. In order to ensure that your Nomination or Secondment is valid, you need to respond to that email. E-mail address of the seconder: Accepting Nominations The Election Manager will confirm the nomination, by sending an e-mail to the candidate requesting their acceptance. Nominations will be archived at: http://forum.icann.org/lists/ccnso-nominations/. The Election Manager shall confirm the list of the Nominees.
