Approval of timeline ICANN Board Elections
Dear Councillors, As discussed during last week’s Council call, the Council found it desirable to have a Q&A session for ICANN Board nominees during the Dakar meeting, regardless of the number(s) of candidates. I have therefore made a tiny amendment to the previously suggested timeline – the times are actually exactly the same, I have only added a line saying: 26 October: If only one nominee: Approval of nominee by ccNSO Council. (The “approval” itself is of course subject to whether he/she “passes” the Q&A session – if not, a new call for nominations must be made). This means that if we only have one candidate, the approval needs to be made by the Council at the Council meeting in Dakar (which will be held after the Q&A session). If there are more than two nominees, the timeline continues just as in the first version. ====== Suggested Timeline: 15 September: Call for nominations & secondments 6 October: Closure of nomination period 13 October: Acceptance of nomination by candidates; announcement of list of nominees; if two or more: announcement that election needed 25 October: Mission statement of candidate(s); public Q&A at ccNSO meeting 26 October: If only one nominee: Approval of nominee by ccNSO Council. If elections needed: 10 November: Call for votes, send out ballots 24 November: Closure of voting 1 December (latest): Inform about results (according to the guidelines, but is normally done earlier) ====== Unless you object, this timeline will be approved by next Monday, 5th September. (This means that you don’t have to write anything if you approve – only if you object!) Kind regards, Gabi
