Onboarding discussion
>> how to engage the fellows more?
Wafa: ccNSO agenda
Ask newcomers which sessions they will participate. Quiz. where do they see themselves? Where do we need to see them? Engage them in
the session
Bart: do you use same slides during newcomer webinar, and the fellowship session?
Biyi: yes
Bart: so emphasizing the sessions could work
Alert them to participate after the icann meeting?
Biyi: we invite them to check ccnso website. And to take the icann learn course
Jenifer: without feedback newcomers do not know, and might loose interest. Mentor-mentee relation. They need guidance to stay engaged.
Pablo: bring the fellows in touch with cctld managers
Bart: some fellows are employed by a cctld manager. Others are not.
Broader community who are not necessarily interested in ccnso work
Pablo: met a fellow from PR in Istanbul. Introducing myself.
Bart: cctlds who are long-standing attendees to engage and contact with them
>> how to improve clarity of ccnso onboarding
Pablo: be more clear in terms of the right answers for the quizzes
Joke: Biyi and myself provide the answers
Pablo: slide 28 in the quiz
Jenifer: newcomers need to know how they fit in the broader structure. And what is their role? What are the ongoing support channels?
Sami: cross-group collaboration. Uac working with UASG. the regional ccTLDs only show up for GAC. guiding the people from neighbouring
countries works to get more involved. Neighbouring countries awareness and engagement

Newcomer webinar

Next edition: Tue, 25 Feb at noon UTC
b.
What expectations should we meet?
c.
Slide review
What does ccnso stand for?
Wafa: useful slide
Wafa: first you need to understand what a TLD is.
Bart: most are aware
Sami: fellows need to some courses. Full icann briefing. That info is already there.
Bart: what does a newcomer want to know?
Sami: what are the achievements? What issues are we part of?
We did the policy for Iraq in the AP region. Other example: Lebanon issues
Clarify the benefits of participating
Pablo: if i were a newcomer. What do you do? What is in it for me?
Am i goin to benefit from being a member.
Jenifer: offer roadmap for involvement. First steps for participation in the ccnso.
Pablo helped me at the start
Bart: what was important for you to learn from pablo?
Jenifer: understand what we do. Lots of things to know. Before you “do the job”.
Wafa: 4 parts
Quiz after each part.
Biyi: most of the fellows are better suited under ALAC. ccNSO is not wide open to all.
Bart: are you ready to revise the deck for the newcomer webinar?
Biyi: we will use these slides forICANN82, and do the review after Seattle
