NOTES | OMC | 24 November 2025 at 15:00 UTC

1. Welcome

Welcome by Jenifer

2. Administrative matters

a. SOI updates

Any updates? None

3. Review OMC Meeting ICANN84

Jenifer: I enjoyed our session. Happy with the full room. Also happy with how people were involved, and what we are doing.

Bart; I heard criticism. We had so many people, and the roundtable took a long. We did not have time, like we did in Prague, to match newcomers and buddies

Jenifer: Maybe for the next meeting, we can do sth like Sean did. Have smaller groups, world cafe. That might help.

Sami: good turnout. That is positive. But a bit too long, the roundtable. Good to have “older” members and newer ones, sharing their journey. The icebreaker was nice. Plan better next time, regarding the time for the intros.

Bart: maybe a plan A and a plan B, for the next meeting? Depending on the number of volunteers?

Abdalmomen: I joined late.

Fellows and newcomers have different backgrounds. They also have different interests. Good chance for ccNSO to promote itself.

Bart: divide groups by interest perhaps in the future? Or whether they attend in another capacity, or have been involved for a longer time? Criteria to look at.

Abdalmomen: icann84 had more attendants than icann83. We are on the right track.

Bart: might be due to the nature of the meeting itself

Claudia: I have the contact details of those interested. It's hard to catch everyone during the session. Wafa reached out to me. I will introduce her to 2 newcomers. I also have a newcomer for Sami

Bart: might be good to have a look at the list first?

But indeed good for Wafa and Sami to reach out to.

Olaf Kolkman is definitely not a newcomer

Joke: i have Riyad from Yemen who wants to know more about the programme

Claudia: he is on the list, to be matched to Wafa

Action item #1

Claudia to share list of newcomers  with Joke and Bart

Sami: I was introduced to someone from Nepal. He is not ccTLD. Should we onboard him?

Bart: no

4. We have a Buddy System in place, what’s next?

Bart: We will proceed with the buddy system as it is currently.

Group agrees

a. Mentor / Mentee

OMC had a similar program in the past. 2 issues:

The programme went more in depth.

I recently heard from the mentee at that time about how valuable it was to her. The program lasted several months.  Joke shares experiences.

Bart: do you think it is valuable to add this type of more in depth programme to the buddy programme? The BP uses the meetings, and get people acquainted. This could be agood follow-up. Dedicated community member.

Bart: would such a program add value?

Jenifer: i think it can add value. Good to have a guide.

Bart: at the time, mentor and mentee were from same region. Same timezones.

Bart: should we have a more in-depth look at it?

Does not mean adoption, but exploring further for the time being

Group agrees

b. Onboarding

Bart shares results of a previous mentimeter poll, used at the time to create OMC workplan.

c. ICANN learn

Bart: suggestion to look at the start of 2026 at the work items for the next 12 months, to enhance ccNSO

Joke: Peter Koch and Svitlana previously involved.

Bart: use ToR
