ICANN has opened a
new Public Comment proceeding that is closely aligned with the focus of our group.
The ICANN Universal Acceptance (UA) Expert Working Group (EWG) has prepared
draft guidelines outlining strategic and practical approaches to encourage UA adoption across a wide range of stakeholders — including large technology companies, open-source communities, standards organizations, software developers, system administrators,
the DNS industry, hosting and Internet service providers, public sector and intergovernmental bodies, as well as academia.
The draft also proposes a framework to help measure efforts and outcomes in areas such as awareness, policy support, implementation, and capacity development related to UA adoption.
