  1. Welcome

Welcome by Abdalmomen

Apologies by Regina

2.                   Admin matters

a.                  SoI update

Abdalmomen: any updates? none

3.                   Agenda UAC – GAC UA WG

Bart: agenda slightly revised, following last week’s planning meeting.  A bit more time for the introductions. Not all have the same level of experience.

Abdalmomen: Jiankang is also a member of the UA-IDN WG. he also is here from a ccNSO perspective. Would be good to have his views

Jiankang: I am not sure i am a member of the GAC WG?

Bart: any questions on the general overview? none

Qing Cai agrees

Group uses green marks in zoom and approved the agenda

Bart: please feel free to share with GAC WG members. Keep GAC staff in copy

Abdalmomen: the GAC WG meets tomorrow. This is one of the agenda items for tomorrow

The suggestion was to stick to 2 rounds, due to the time constraints.

Seda: any arguments on incentives regarding software, websites? Good to be prepared.

Bart: might be a good idea to have a briefing paper, and include them in the briefing paper, if you have any. Unesco people and icann staff are warmly invited to join the conversation. You are the experts, and can flag relevant examples.

Seda: will bring them up. Might be good to hear them from the different audiences.

Bart: this is not just to inform the GAC members. This is also for ccTLDs. This is a joint conversation, not a briefing or series of presentations. This is a nice opportunity for networking, and inviting for follow-up meetings. It breaks barriers for interaction

Bart: let’s try to identify the hosts next week

4.                   Input UAC on ICANN/UNESCO note

(draft included):

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1h-FjzCgV9CI5iZSeYdFfzrBXUQZIstYe6xltSTZy5GM/edit?usp=sharing

From email with ICANN staff: ICANN and UNESCO collaborate on UA policy brief, which is intended for the public sector. It will be shared through UNESCO with their member states to promote UA awareness and adoption among countries. ICANN IDN team intends to use the GAC channels to promote it as well. At suggestion of Abdalmonem UAC to provide input to brief.

Bart: can UAC still share feedback?

Seda: yes. Not sure about the deadline

Bart: before Dublin? After?  Any indication would be helpful

5.                   Drivers & Barriers Action items and prioritization – outcome discussion and next steps

(included as pdf & word, link to Google doc to be shared and overview of results of 27 August session whiteboard (pdf), table and doc

Second reading outcome of August work session and prioritization

Bart: see whiteboard we used. The idea was to rank the sticky notes: those are the action items. This is the most rudimentary way of looking at it.

Andrew: I love the colour-coding. This is helpful.

Bart: do we do prioritisation now? Or wait for the results from the Dublin session? Might make more sense.

Do you support?

Group agrees with the prioritisation after ICANN84

6.                   Next meeting:

a.                   15 October – small team

b.                   25 October - joint UAC/GAC IDN WG meeting

7.                   AOB

8.                   Closure
