3.            Workplan

a.            Closing discussion: survey or consultation session ICANN82 (8-13 March, Seattle)

Bart: follow-up from the discussions by UAC from 2 weeks ago. solicit views from the ccTLD community. Status of UA awareness?

You can see a variety of responses. The group was not clear about the goal of the survey. What do you want to achieve, determines the questions.

Also, there was no clear view on who would be the target for the survey, again making it difficult to draft the questionnaire

The alternative to a survey would be a dedicated session. Suggestion to have a ccTLD testimonial, followed by interactivity. Use of mentimeter is proposed. Additional testimonial, with mentimeter polling as a follow-up. Bart speaks to his illustration. To solicit views from the community around UA awareness. It will require preparation (less than the survey). Similar questions need to be asked

Engaging way to solicit views and provide inspiration

Taking into account the meeting schedule, you have a limited amount of time to prepare. Need to start after ICANN 81 with the prep for ICANN82

Abdalmonem: results will be useful for the UAC.

Regina: submit views outside the session

Bart: advantage of having open questions

Anil: In case we want to have a session at icann82, time is short. Not just ccTLDs who present, but also provide a learning experience. UASG and ICANNorg do a readiness report every year. There was a specific ccTLD survey. That also covers what the blockages are for some ccTLDs regarding UA adoption

Preference expressed for the consultation session

UA Readiness Report: https://uasg.tech/download/uasg-050-ua-readiness-report-fy24

Anil: progress made.

Bart: what are the major factors?

Anil: explains why people chose for UA readiness, and what are the blockages

UA Readiness Survey for ccTLDs https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/ua-readiness-survey-report-cctlds-27mar23-en.pdf

Anil: ccTLDs can consult with each other. Also, the UASG reports are helpful for registries. Thirdly, there are several agencies that help registries and registrars to help with UA adoption.

Blockages? The gvt policies. Often gvt is not taking the decision regarding UA adoption. Some ccTLDs do not get the IDN. resources and manpower are also an issue. Some of the ccTLDs do not have awareness about UA, and the advantages.

Bart: baseline for session themes. The starting point. Look at the reports, and check where there are themes. Who could provide a testimonial.

Regina: have a look at content of the surveys. Where are there synergies? We are open to enhance it.

Seda: Please note newly published brochure is available at the ICANN booth: UA Roadmap for Registry and Registrar Systems https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/ua-roadmap-registries-registrars-30oct24-en.pdf

Bart:

  1. Identify themes from the report
  2. Prepare the mentimeter questions and seek presenters for those topics

Plan for ICANN82 and beyond. Since the results are inspiring.

  1. Review current work items

Abdalmomen speaks to the UAC charter, and the purpose and value of the UAC, compared to the value of the ccNSO

To prepare the UAC workplan, the UAC used a 3-phased approach.

  1. Napkin pitch
  2. Impact-effort analysis
  3. Setting priorities

UAC workplan: https://community.icann.org/x/UIfxDg

Bart: suggestion is to have a look at the current work plan, before undertaking any new items. Review the current list of items. Are they still relevant?

Regina: this workplan is from March 2024. 2 categories

  1. The library is set up. Please suggest additional content, or consult it

To suggest new content for the UAC Library, use this template and send it to ccnso-uac-submissions@icann.org

2.            Sharing success stories? Ongoing. In planning for icann82

3.            Inform about UA day. See webinar

4.            Coordination: reaching out to ALAC, GAC etc. ongoing, and planned

5.            Liaison: appointed, doing good work

6.            Share reports

Abdalmonem: UAC welcomes new members to the committee. To contribute to UAC work

The ccNSO Universal Acceptance (UA)Community Mailing and Contact List is used to share and receive UA-related information, ranging from updates of the information repository (library) maintained by

the ccNSO Universal Acceptance Committee (UAC) to information on practices, education and tips and events.

The Mailing and Contact List  also acts as a contact Repository: subscribers receive an automatically generated email

every quarter that contains the UA Mailing and Contact list information (UA contact, phone numbers, email addresses as agreed for release under applicable privacy laws) of all subscribed ccTLDs

To subscribe, please use the subscription template and send it to ccnsosecretariat@icann.org

Important: your subscription request email must come from the administrative contact address you have currently registered in the IANA database.

Regina speaks to the mid- to long term work items. List from current workplan displayed on the slide.

Abdalmonem: priority setting for the work items happened during the March icann meeting. Any additional items?

Ai-Chin: we have done a lot of work. The chair and vice chair. How do we evaluate the progress?

Bart: you have a nice way to measure progress. E.g. participation of cctld managers in UA Day events. This year UAC is more involved. As a result of the webinar and the session in Kigali, the level of interest among cctlds increased. That is a good measurement. Whether it can all be attributed to UAC is another question

Secondly, what we will do at icann82. If you repeat the same exercise in 2 years, you might see a progress.

Mutegeki Cliff to Everyone (9 Nov 2024, 07:53)

Uganda DNS Forum under ugCCTLD with take part in organising UA day in Uganda.

Abdalmomen: UA Day proposals and cctld participation to evaluate

Bart: regarding the mid to long term activities, item number 2: add bullet to it. Survey (session ICANN82) ongoing

Based on the experience witj the DASC survey. Based on the icann82 session, you see items developing from it. Revisit this list again after ICANN82. That is one way of taking onboard the results of the

  1. Identify new work items 2025-2026 (time permitting)
