Update IDN EPDP
Sarmad: previous meeting, the group reviewed its schedule and list of activities. They are now revisiting the timeline. 2 reports: report one on top level, second report will focus on the remaining questions,
focusing on the 2nd level
Kenny: make sure we have harmonisation in terms of Variant Management, between GNSO and ccNSO efforts.
Bart: action item for next week? If EPDP decides to make this split, the 2 groups should compare notes again
Ariel: yes, meet at start of the new year. 9 meetings left until Christmas break
Bart: the ccPDP4 full group is almost done. Good idea for this subgroup to meet with GNSO. no need for full hour. Compare notes halfway through, to ensure there is no real divergence
Ariel: makes sense.

Introduction of document
Bart: https://community.icann.org/x/NAbVD
We closed section 1, 2 and 3. (Purpose, standard base for comparison)
Next step: methodology and process itself. Some will be left for implementation, some copy-paste from Fast Track Process.
Any comments or concerns regarding this?
None
Mirjana: structure is ok.
Proposed process and method confusing similarity evaluation - goal - section 1
There are 2 ccTLDs as examples between brackets. Those 2 ccTLDs are variants of each others. The other group is dealing with this. Will try to find a better example.
Bart: variants across scripts make it very difficult
Sarmad: good point raised by Mirjana. When some parts of the text were drafted, there was a large pool of characters considered similar. Since then, the work of RZ-LGR identified 2 sets of characters.
Bart: This text is around for quite some time. That is frustrating. This is cut and paste from the delineation. Please raise your points when we discuss this.
Bart: we should note potential overlap between VM and CS, and the impact
Pitinan: Perhaps we can consider this example ‘бе’ vs ‘be’. ‘Бе’ does not have variant labels.
Bart: would it not result in the same issue?
Pitinan: text is ok. But the example is not. Simply update the example
Jiankang: C1 and C2
If the requestor has a confusing similarity problem, and they seek clarification, will it be the same panel that will do the review? Concern that perhaps the panel is biased.
Bart: different panel
Suggestion to add this to the text. This is currently not clear. See annex B.
Sarmad: third step is limited in applicability. Similar in lower case, but not upper case.
Bart: thanks, this is documented. Needs to be be reviewed in detail, to check whether additional conditions need to be added
b.
Introducing the process description, including assumptions (EPSRP and risk mitigation are specific, policy related review mechanism)
