Thanks Jonathan,
I support Daniel comments and particularly the "or in service" in his suggested sentence:
"-   Be aligned +or in service+ of the ICANN's mission and core principles"
But it might be a need to expand on what in service could be.

Thanks Jonathan.

I like this preample, but I'm a bit concerned with the way the listing at the end is presented, using "Projects should:".

I think it'd better to introduce the list with the first sentence only:

"Therefore, the CCWG considers the following to be important guidelines to
  applicants seeking auction proceeds funding:"

Otherwise, one might (or should) think that all the listed criteria have to be fulfilled at once, which would reduce the scope to the most constraining one, i.e.

"- Support ICANN's community activities and consensus-building processes"

Another option would be to include this ICANN specific criteria in the first one, e.g.
"-   Be aligned +or in service+ of the ICANN's mission and core principles"

And keep the "Projects should:" as a AND constraint.

Edit: I think there's a typo:  “(concept).
probably should just be    concept.

Thanks Marika,

All, please be aware of the following definition of an “open and

all the key concepts required for a preamble? If not, what else is
