Hi all I know that it is late in the day with regards to including anything new into our report, but in light of the Board's renewed interest in the global public interest , I wondered if it might be appropriate to add them to the #1 guideline for applications for auction proceed funding on p37 of the report. Therefore, the CCWG considers the following to be important guidelines for the review and selection of applications seeking auction proceeds funding: 1. The purpose of a grant/application must be in service of ICANN's mission, core principles and global public interest commitments. It is late in the day, and I am afraid it would lead to a lengthy debate as to the nature of those commitments, so I am against the addition. Julf
Maureen - we will add this item to our agenda for today. Thanks, Erika Sent from my iPhone

The Board is, indeed, interested in developing a shared understanding across the community about how the global public interest is identified. If Maureen would accept a friendly amendment, because ICANN’s Commitments and Core Values speak to the manner in which ICANN carries out its Mission, something like this would be more precise: 1. The purpose of a grant/application must be in service of ICANN’s Mission and consistent with the Commitments and Core Values set out in the Bylaws, including those relating to the global public interest. Thank you Becky for that consideration which I feel is very acceptable. I am also grateful that public interest is recognised specifically in our statement even though we know that it is already included into the Board's mission. It is an important consideration to be specified with regards to the type of projects that might be acceptable - because they can contribute to the Board's mission.
