[Comments-biz-renewal-03apr19] Do Not Uncap .Biz Pricing
The case for maintaining regulated pricing on .biz renewals is obvious, and goes straight to the basic concept of fairness. The registry and ICANN both know that many thousands of businesses rely on a predictable price structure. A company’s brand and livelihood are inextricably connected to their adopted domain name. Switching from historical capped pricing to “unregulated pricing" is the equivalent of deliberately exploiting tragedy for personal gain, i.e. raising the price of a bottle of water 20x following flood or natural disaster. You can do it, but it makes you an unconscionable exploiter of human tragedy. The real issue here is whether those in control of ICANN (and the registry) have a conscience, and are willing to make intelligent, fair decisions that honor existing stakeholders.
