After the .org fiasco, why would you even consider messing with the .com TLD? Especially getting in bed with Verisign... Please don't do it.

Hello, I am a registrant of a .com domain name, which is not used in a manner that generates sufficient income to support excessive cost. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains, as I can only justify holding onto this domain if the price remains low. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. They are merely your manager of the .COM Registry – they has no business dictating the price. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest, and this is clearly outside that mandate. Regards, David Van Ee Vancouver, BC, Canada

I know that you have to grow businesses and make new impacts but this decision will kill many people’s access to the same opportunity that you’re building for yourselves. Some of us are students, and very small business owners, who for years have relied on the system you were already operating within. It worked, it wasn’t broken and didn’t need fixing. I really hope you reconsider but if you don’t please remember that greed doesn’t fare well in the long run. I object to the proposed price changes for .com domain registration. As a small business owner and consultant with approximately 50 domains registered, these increases are unfair and unwarranted. They do not represent any reflection of inflation-related economics and seem to be arbitrary. This is simply price gouging that winds up impacting small businesses like mine with little recourse.
