As a business owner, I do not agree with this proposition. I think it's important to keep the fees for domains low and accessible.

Hello I understand that a new proposal regarding .com pricing that could affect all COM domains - up to 40% of all registered domain names online. That .COM wholesale domain prices can grow by more than 70% over and above current prices over the next decade. The contract also allows for other price increases, which could drive prices up further, ultimately making .COM domains less accessible and more expensive for everybody. I understand Verisign agreed to pay ICANN an additional $20 million dollars over five years to support ICANN's domain name system initiatives, without any clarity about how ICANN will spend the money, or who will ensure that the funds are properly spent on domain infrastructure. How is this fair not checking in with the entire community before making a change that will so significantly impact .com domain registrants? I hope you will reconsider and involve your community. I oppose the price increase and capital control of domain name prices. It has no significant benefit and is only a burden to the internet and we will not stand for this useless perogative.

We don't need to raise this fee just to raise it. We should have better reasons to raise it than this. Real people have many domains they register and are trying to maintain and this would hit them harder. Lets try to not be like the rest of the government and not raise fees for no apparent reason. Please don't implement this and if it is adjuststed then it should just be a slight adjustment and only as needed. I am/have been/will be a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. What is the purpose of having ICANN AT LARGE when public interests are not considered in the decision making? H. Runnebaum, Germany

The internet is a wonderful place that has free information, available to everyone regardless of economic status. If the costs of domain names goes up, individuals may not be able to afford to publish their own personal websites. The internet will loose a valuable subset of websites that provide information that large corporations do not. Please don't make any changes to the .COM registration process.

My son recently started a business selling graphic art tees and sweaters. He is only 18 and soon to graduate high and works a part time job on the weekends. He just got his website started and can not afford to pay any extra for his .COM. He is starting his business on a show string budget and every dollar counts. I to have a .COM and I have not even got my business started I’m in the building process getting all my affairs in order before I can actually begin making money if my .COM price goes up I can’t hold on to them until I am ready to get my business going. Please reconsider this price increase it will hurt the small business community the start up part of building a business is the hardest part and for young inspiring minds that want to create a space online this will hurt them. The every day person should be able to afford a .COM and have the opportunity to build a business or create a presence online. Thank you. Sent from my iPhone

I hope this decision is made very carefully. I am not questioning the need for price adjustment over time but I'm very interested to know how the new value (7%) increase is being calculated? I would love to see the justification for such an increase in the prices. It feels like going back to the '90s when the domain prices used to be very high. At the moment looks like Verisign is the only party interested in increasing .com domain prices. Waqas Lone Mississauga, Canada
