Dear Sir or Madam, I would hereby like to express my objection as an Internet user and a member of the ICANN community to the recent deal with Versign, Inc. leading to the wholesale price increase of the .COM domains. Please work to keep .com prices as low as they are now. The accessibility of the low pricing of .com domains has allowed so much of the internet to become what it is today. Raising prices on the most common domains will make it less affordable for entry level internet content creators to build new and amazing websites, services, and applications. Please keep .com’s affordable and accessible for all of us out here who want to keep making epic things for the world to see without having to take out a personal loan.

On what basis are the proposed price increases to be allowed? Do the .COM domains incur higher administrative costs? Will Verisign provide better service to domain registrars? Based on recent consumer price inflation of about 2% per year, a 7% yearly increase in wholesale domain prices can only be seen as a means to extract more revenue from the ultimate domain consumers, i.e., the website owners, without adding *any* value for registrars or domain owners, but simply to add 7% per year to Verisign's bottom line. I understand that, under the proposal, the new contract between ICANN and Verisign will entail the former will receive an extra $20 million over five years from the latter. This sounds as scandalous as a utility regulator receving a bribe from a utility company in order to induce the regulator to approve a rate increase. I oppose the proposed amendment. I also wonder why is Verisign allowed to act as a .COM wholesale domain provider, while still acting as a domain registrar. It is analogous to the FCC granting special privileges to some company to act as wholesale radio-TV or other spectrum "provider", while still being allowed to compete with the other companies not granted that privilege, i.e., on an unequal basis. Hello. I have just heard about these rate increases and can see how these are justified. ? I already pay enough teach year for my com domains. Further increases will make me decide to drop my dot com domains and go with a much less priced alternatives. Do not increase prices. You will lose m9ney in the end by doing so with many like me that will go with alternatives for sure Wayman Simmang Canyon Lake Texas 78133

Access to domain services is vital to the continued use and growth of the internet and modern society. Allowing a for-profit company to unilaterally decide when and by how much to raise prices is a recipe for disaster. Coupled with the secret negotiations between ICANN and Verisign, the commissions that ICANN receives on each registration, and the extra $20 million in earmarked but unenforceable funds casts strong doubt on the public benefit of this deal and casts both players as corrupt organizations pillaging from the global population. Please go not increase prices on domains by as much as you are proposing. Please keep the price increases at more moderate levels so that so businesses, large and small, can make use of the internet and grow their businesses. Thank you, Jared van Aalten
