The rise in prices proposed for .COM domain names will have a devastating effect on me and my business interests. As a frequent purchaser of domain names, I will be much less likely to try new ventures if the price continues to go up and up unchecked. I currently own about 10 .COM domain names for various projects, from graduate school to freelance jobs to personal portfolios. The prices as they currently are make it easy for me to purchase one, try out the project, and maintain or discard as suits my needs and those of my potential clients. This proposed action hurts freelancers and small business owners at the expense of large corporations. I respectfully ask you to reexamine these price changes for .COM domain names and consider the good of the internet as a whole rather than short term gains. Thank you, Sincerely, Donna K. Good morning, as a .com domain user I find the price increases proposed and worked with Verisign to be in detriment of users like me who mainly blog, put out content for many people to improve and support their daily lives. On the other hand I would like you to show me who within the regular American population receives a increase of a 7% annually in their paycheck for 4 year straight? Sound ludicrous to me more so, when the increases will continue after a two year freeze for another 3 years. On the other hand what is ICANN doing specifically with the extra 20$ million dollars received for this agreement that benefits the users in terms of the security and stability of the domain name systems? The most significant change is that Version can operate as a domain registrar which will place Verisign in a very advantageous position since this company controls almost 80% of the registrar pricing for the domain names that will compete directly with all domain registrars. Clearly an unfair market advantage harming competition. I do not want this to happen because many .com owners will be harmed with this unilateral decisions for many years to come. Your proposed amendment states that it is in the public interest to raise prices on .com registration but fails to explain how that serves the public interest. Im an owner of three .com that i use for recreational purpose. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest.

Hi, I'm writing to pitch in my opinion on the recently proposed changes which will result in a price hike on .COM domains. I think this is NOT a good idea. This TLD has been the top choice of nearly half the webpages on the web. That speaks of its popularity, and how much importance it holds. One of the key traits is its accessibility and affordability, especially compared to most other TLDs. Individuals have been able to make use of their .COM websites and open up their content to the world much more easily than other lesser known domains, and the newer, more expensive, custom domains (like .DANCE, .XYZ, etc). With the proposed changes, you'll be killing the easy access that public has enjoyed, throwing in a lot of confusion, all over just another business deal. We consider ICANN to be more than just another corporation out to make profits off of people's compulsion. Please do the right thing and nip this price hike plan in the bud. To Whom It May Concern, I am completely against the decision to allow Versign to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .COM domains every year for 8 out of the next 10 years. As a .com owner, this will directly affect me as well as others trying to establish an online presence with an established domain. Please reconsider this decision.

I do not agree that the proposed amendments to the .com TLD will benefit the internet as a whole or myself. It does however benefit a rather small portion of an already overly wealthy population. The existing rules were put in place to protect the internet. They were thought out carefully and weighed. Do not remove them.

This change will force many "mom and pop" .com domain holders to abandon their domains. I for one will lapse several that I keep for personal reasons, however this increase will outweigh the reasons for keeping. Jessie
