Please be mindful of all the small businesses that rely on domains to function. Putting prices up annually will ultimately put such businesses out of business when already jobs in corporations are being lost by failing large businesses forcing people to becoming self-sufficient by starting their own online businesses. To increase costs will further increase poverty when people have lost all options to earn a living through such decisions

Hi, I would like to voice my concerns with the proposed changes to the price increases of .com registration. Increasing the cost will put a vast majority of people at a disadvantage. it will push, and lock out many people who would like to buy a .com domain name. Especially for people who don't have much money, and would like to start a new venture to better themselves. Good day, I am against of raising prices for the .com segment and would not like to see this agreement proceed as it is. The Internet is now a public good and domain names are part of it. In my opinion, the changes proposed in the Amendment 3 are not in concert with the community decision and serve the interests of just two major parties - ICANN and Verisign. Dear ICANN, I wish to register my extreme disapproval of the proposed price increases over the next ten years and beyond of the .com domain and also the proposal to allow Versign to dominate the .com domain market, thus removing the healthy competitiveness from that market. I am one among many thousands of would-be internet entrepreneurs who are working on a very tight budget as we strive for success in a very competitive environment. Many of us use the .com domain as the basis for our businesses. Many of us run at a loss for the first few months or years. The incremental raising of the price of .com domains over the next ten years, plus who knows how much more at the end of that period, will hit us all financially and may put many of us out of business. I urge you to rethink your proposals. Increase the price of registering a .com domain if you must but let’s keep that price rise fair to everyone. Also, please rethink the move that will give Versign so much power over the .com domain. Competition is healthy and keeps us all honest. Let’s keep the .com market competitive. To whom it may concern, ICANN, I am a registrant of a .com domain name, wangqiliang.com, as you can see. From my perspective, I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. As you can see, no one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices, and the current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Also, in my opinion, since you, ICANN, is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest, I suppose that you should reject their unreasonable price increases. As someone who owns a lot of domains this will cost me a substantial amount in extra domain registration fees each year. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) recentlyannounced <https://www.ntia.doc.gov/press-release/2018/ntia-statement-amendment-35-coo…>that it would “permi[t] Verisign to pursue with ICANN an up to 7% increase in the prices for .com domain names”, but it*does not*of course, compel ICANN to agree to any such increases. Any such decision regarding .com pricing remains with ICANN. Demand that ICANN REFUSE a potential price increase on .COM domains! Verisign is entitled to a reasonable fee for running the registry on behalf of ICANN. Verisign currently charges*$7.85 per .com domain name per year. *The cost to operate the registry, after taking into account the expensive infrastructure necessary to provide reliable and secure operations and high overhead, has been estimated at*$1.00 <https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/02/dotcom_domains_pricing/> to$3.50 <https://domainnamewire.com/2018/09/11/verisign-coperative-agreement/> per domain name per year.* If the proposed fee increases go into effect, by the end of the six-year agreement term, the fee for each .com domain name will increase to $10.29 per year,a 30% jump from current levels <https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/02/dotcom_domains_pricing/>. Even conservatively assuming that in six years’ time there are only 140 million .com domain name registrants instead of the current 138 million, that increase of $2.44 per year, per domain name, would result in*$341,000,000*more revenue for Verisign per year. That money would come out of the pockets of .com registrants like you. Higher fees for Verisign are not justified, as demonstrated by the following four key points: 1. Verisign is a provider of technical registry services, it does not own the .com name space; 2. Unlike Verisign's fees, the prices set by registrars and domain name investors are held in check by competition; 3. Verisign is already well-paid for its services, as evidenced by its substantial profits; and 4. ICANN need not approve fee hikes; on the contrary, ICANN ought to assert its right to set reasonable fee levels for its hired registry manager. Your lack of transparency regarding the decisions made recently can only suggest a shady operation meant to give Verisign full power over the .COM domains. I strongly advice the adoption of a proper price cap to avoid harming the already 144 million (and growing) .COM domain names registered and any future registrants that will most likely think twice before making that decision after the changes that you agreed upon. Dear Sir/Madam, it has come to my attention that you are proposing an amendment to the .com registry agreement, which will entail/make possible significant increases in price for the registration of .com domains. I strongly oppose to this. Such a price hike will have very significant consequences to registrants in, e.g., third and second world countries. For companies and individuals in these countries, these hikes in price may prove prohibitive, effectively barring them from registering or holding on to .com domains. .com domains are the most widely recognised, and therefore, all should have equal access to them. The internet should remain a free and open space to all. I urge you to reconsider this move, and consider hiking prices for other extensions instead. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate is already far more than justified. Given that Verisign does not provide any new service. It's a free milk cow for Verisign. Verisign built the software off registration fee so technically ICANN owns the Verisign software to manage domains.
