Dear ICANN and Verisign, After reading the information received by Namecheap, I need to share with you my negative response to an action like the one you’re about to taken. We’re living in a world where everything is changing to try to be fair and respectful and we’re trying to avoid inequality over the whole population. By doing an action like this one you’re just proving that you only put the focus on your growth and benefits and not in the common good and a bigger purpose. Hello, ICANN should open up .COM to competitive pricing instead of granting a monopoly to Verisign. I am very much against allowing price increases for .COMs, given that the current prices are already much higher than the operating costs plus a modest profit. The technology costs for operating a registry are continually going down so it doesn't justify price increases, instead prices should be decreasing.

We are against the proposed price increase to.com domains. Our business is a .COM registrant and we manage the .COM domains on behalf of our subsidiaries (x5). The public has a vested interest in reasonably priced domain registrations to allow freedom of speech and innovation on the internet, and to allow individuals and small businesses to maintain a presence on the internet. We believe monopolies stifle innovation. Allowing Verisign to dictate the price is concerning. Raising the prices for the whole internet behind its back is unacceptable. .COM is not just about the first world largest companies, it's a main opportunity for starting businesses which will never be trusted on any other domain. Internet is not a follow-up channel anymore, it's the only place for many companies to start. And since it's a monopoly, we should at least get an expense report of where all those additional funds will be directed to.
