Hello, I am part of a family run web hosting business in Uganda. Websites are just being embraced by businesses here today and we are excited to be getting into this space. I am against this plan to increase the prices. It would make getting online even harder for many of the local businesses here. It is also unjustified, considering how the cost of running servers has fallen in recent years. Please help us keep domain names affordable, as it will help make the world a better place. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am totally against the proposed price increase to the .COM domains. Only Verisign wants increases in .COM prices. The current rate is already is alredy justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry, it has no business changing the price, besides this look suspicious and seams like ICANN is more interested in money than looking after domain names. Hello, Frankly, I am very worrisome of the direction ICANN is going in lieu of the recent backdoor deals they are making with Verisign, Inc. How can domain owners like myself be sure that prices will not rise significantly higher than the market’s actual demand in the coming years? In the least, deals with Verisign could remain transparent from the get go. If domain owners like myself are truly rendered powerless when it comes to domain prices established between ICANN and Verisign, it’s impossible for me to support such companies when their appears to be a lack of free market competition at play. I wish I had other options to offer my business but remain hopeful that a moral course of action will be carried out by ICANN and Verisign, Inc. When the prices of the whole technology Eco system are coming down, the increase in the pricing is not making sense to me If ICANN would like to put this money in some productive way then it should first come up with the road plan and the budget. In some countries this would be seen as fraudulent. If you want to increase prices drastically, please be ready to buy back .com registrations. If this is a ploy to cancel .com alltogther in the future, just come out and say it. If it is to make people aware of other TLDs, do not increase prices of renewals.

The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. The proposed amendment to allow for the increase of .COM registration prices is not in the interest of the public nor the health of the domain name registration system. The increased prices would hurt individual .COM domain owners and small businesses, creating a barrier and reducing their valued and longstanding internet presences. This amendment would reduce the trust that the public has placed in the domain name system and could potentially lead to the fracturing of the system and the creation of competing systems. Um, no thank you. Why do you need this increase? How will this money be used? By increasing fees without purpose we can only assume it is for greed. The only purpose is to keep people from owning a domain. This is not what the internet should be.

Dear ICAAN, On the outside looking in, this deal looks dirty. Large amounts of money changing hands, discussions behind closed doors, a company siding with big business and a willingness to disregard its own founding principles. Whichever way you try and spin this, it is a proposal which in no way can be seen as a positive for either ICAAN or the global community. It supports an attempt to monopolise the .COM business at the expense of both those who use it and of your reputation. Reducing transparency, hoodwinking their customers and prioritising the bottom line did not work well for Volkswagen. Simply put, implementing this proposal will go against everything you stand for. It's difficult to understand how you can, on one hand, preach transparency and fairness and, on the other, not only practice the opposite but also genuinely attempt to justify it.
