We are more than unhappy with the new potential increases for our domain. Some companies like mine are small, we do not profit from our website. It leads people to our sales, and let them know where they are and what we are selling..Such an increase would mean that we could mean loss of business for us, and not being able to keep a website. I know it's not free to do, and I'm fine with paying for the service, but the cost should be reasonable for the value one gets and it's already more than it needs to be. Why would prices be going up? Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. I am an end user of .com domain living in an third world country. The price I pay as an individual is already a premium for where I live. It’s vital that I have access to affordable TLD name for either personal and business use. To highlight sentiments shared by me and others who are reaching out to ICANN. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. If cost is of concern then Verisign should innovate or restructure the company. If companies are taking monopolistic actions then you have the power to break it up or allow other companies to operate in the same space. Dear sir or madam, I am writing today to express my concern over the increased price of the .com TLD. I, like many others use this for personal use and do not make money off the use of the name. Already the price of my domains have increased 50% over the last few years and I am considering dropping some of those domains. Now you are considering increasing that even more. Some of the domains I own I am fairly certain are not usable by a business, and once the price gets to a certain level, I will drop those .com domains. So even though you increase the price, I believe the overall effect will be for individuals like myself to stop using the most expensive TLD and it may actually result in a reduced revenue stream, not more. To Whom It May Concern, The act would be clearer ONLY If there is clarity in justifiable reasons and basis to why there would be a DRASTIC spike in increase of domain fees for dot com domains only. In business, whenever there’s price increase, the rise should be minimum and spread across all types of domains to minimise the effect and NOT heavily imposed on just one area of product only. Does the increase in prices offers any additional value to us end users or consumers to justify the price increase? Unreasonable unrealistic inflation if not hyper inflation of price is not acceptable. If something have to increase, VeriSign should instead Look at Premium Domains and charge Tax (tariffs like) charges on such premium domains for them unreasonable domain hoarding action and profit tiering when they simply purchase the domain at the original Low-entry price. Why should average users like us trying to make something work in online be punished for doing nothing wrong? Dot com domain hoarders (domain premium resellers are those whom should be reeled in). Their hoarding activity restricts productive businesses from buying their own domains. Do the right thing, domain hoarding are the black sheep, might as well Tax or get benefits from those high prices instead. Don’t look at entry dot com domains, look at Premium reseller dot com domains and the Bulk Premium Resellers instead. There’s more money to be made there since they already clearly jack up the price so high, VeriSign can kill two birds with one stone (1 single action). #1: Bring justice to end users trying to buy our own domains #2: VeriSign can increase profits without affecting be public (only those unprofessional overlooked Premium Domain Resellers). Hello, Please do not raise the fees for domain names for everyone. If you do many may be dropped because of these fees. I have about 5 domains and I may be forced to drop these. For those that have purchased numerous domain names to resell, there could be a fee raised if they own more than a certain amount. A single publicly traded corporation should not be given the authority to determine wholesale prices of .com domains and be allowed to increase those fees at a rate well beyond inflation for many years to come. Verisign deserves a reasonable fee for its job in maintaining the .com registry and related tasks, but it should not be allowed to extort profits from the public while fulfilling its role as a public servant. Unlike the prices set by registrars and domain name investors, any .com fee hikes that Verisign might impose would NOT be influenced by market forces or competition, and would undermine the tenets of our free enterprise system. Giving Verisign the option to increase wholesale prices of .com domains will adversely affect a vast number of people and companies simply trying to conduct business and earn a living. Why should Verisign be allowed to set the prices arbitrarily? Since we do not enjoy (at the moment) a de-centralized .com registry that would foster competition and help keep prices in check, Verisign would essentially have a monopoly on .com domain names, the most sought-after name space on the Internet today. I am firmly against the continued privatization and financial fleecing of our free and fair Internet, and I am against any closed-door negotiations between your two parties which seeks to shut out the voice of citizens. I urge you to listen to the objections of your customers and allow for open and transparent business practices. Hi, I hear prices to register .com names will go up. Certainly some increase can be expected…but not much. After all, most technology prices keep going down. Hard drives, computers, monitors, and more keep getting better and the price remains the same or even goes down. Why should .com go up? It is not technology, it is a period followed by three letters. Certainly serving up that to the associated IP address and keeping it all flowing has its cost, but again those costs keep going down. Inflation? Perhaps. But anything over 2-3% a year is not acceptable. The proposed 7% is greed, pure and simple. It needs to be stopped. I will do what I can to fight it because it is wrong.
