I am very opposed to the secret deal .COM price increases that have been proposed. Should this unjustified price increase take place it will be a significant hardship to me in attempting to maintain my online presence. Increasing the price of .com domains only harms free expression, and doesn’t allow people with limited resources to host or express their opinions. Increasing the prices just for the sake of increasing it, especially over a span of years without a limit does more harm than good. Please reconsider.

Personally, I wish .com domains cost a minimum of $120 ($10/mo) per year to keep registered. Domain tasting, squatting and warehousing have made it nearly impossible for legitimate businesses to own a memorable .com name without being gouged by third parties.

Dear Sir/Madam, I have not been consulted regarding the new contract ICANN has with Verisign, which will lead to increases in the .COM domain price. For this and other reasons, I consider the process has not been transparent and I am opposed to it. This will have a negative impact on the whole internet community. We operate a small clinical trials unit out of a university and these regulations would make it increasingly difficult for us to buy domain names for our small, grant-funded studies. Please do not implement the .com registry agreement; it would harm our business!

I am a domainer and I invest in domain names as a second business I am 100% against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry - it has no business dictating the price. As a small business owner who offers my clients dozens of their .com names as part of a larger bundled package, this proposal to increase .com pricing would be a negative impact on all of our small businesses. 70% increase over the next 5 years is excessive. I understand the need to increase due to inflation, but this is simply corporate greed which I won't stand by. Please count my vote as an opposition vote to this initiative. Stability of the most-used TLD, .com, is important for the stability of the internet as a whole. Allowing Verisign to increase .com prices up to 70% over the next 10 years will negatively affect domain registrants like me, and for what benefit? More corporate profit? When a 20 million dollar payment includes no clear plan for the use of the funds and no oversight, it sounds less like a payment and more like a bribe. Provide a clear and specific explanation for this money and how this contract change with Verisign is beneficial to the internet and its users. How does giving the most powerful TLD operator more control, now as a registrar, ensure stability and promote competition? This change seems to directly conflict with ICANN's mission. Austen Morgan
