When did greed become the driving force of your organization? While increasing the costs of a TLD is not out of the question, not addressing the new cashflow into ICANN is. Like so many others who have made similar comments, these costs and the near certainty of them increasing year over year is concerning to me. Yes infrastructure costs money, but these charges are already well into the making money vs. breaking even level and giving tacit approval for further increases is not necessary. I have been doing this a long time. So long in fact that when I started domain registration was free. My concern is that those, like me, who have a domain name for their family, their side hustle, the business they plan to start some day, etc.. I currently have 5 or 6 domains I am responsible for, none of which are commercial, and all of which add up to a real amount of money for an individual. And this cost change does nothing to stop domain squatters or other Internet trolls. If you want to allow VRSN to run things, that is fine, but they should have to justify why when actual costs are going down they need/want more money each year. I am opposed to the amendments as they currently stand. Charles Kaplan

I'm the CEO and founder of a web development agency. Our entire team finds it disgraceful that ICANN would enter into an agreement with such large ramifications for the internet community as a a whole without duly consulting and incorporating feedback from the global community. Every organization essentially wants *more money*, we understand that. But when you take on responsibility as a regulatory agency for something this important to human society as a whole, you should know you can't just be looking out for yourselves. This kind of action taken in such a self-serving and non-transparent way deeply affects our organization's respect for ICANN as a whole, and I know it does the same for much of the community that is aware of these shenanigans. This is your opportunity to make an adjustment to mitigate the impact of this poor decision before the damage to ICANN's reputation is permanent and irrevocable.

I do NOT want price increases 8 out of the next 10 years. I DO want transparency about how this came to be, how much money is being paid out, and where the extra money will go. I DO want accountability for a transparent process... And if that means inundating congress to control a process with a lack of transparency and accountability, then that is what needs to be done. Hi I strongly oppose this price increase as there are millions of individuals that have the .COM domains for their personal use as well as the small business owners across the world. Think of small takeaways, corner bike shops, coffee shops and small takeaways etc. Not everyone lives in the US and even their not everyone can afford it. If you have one domain then perhaps it can be OK but those who have multiple domains for personal or development purposes it will become difficult for them. Instead of making it cheaper so everyone across the world is able to access it you are making it more expensive. I oppose this move. Perhaps you should look at other avenues to increase revenue and reduce costs.

Dear Icann As I have read, there is no justification for increasing the prices of .com domains, for many people and small businesses, especially in developing countries, the prices that exist today are hardly viable to have an Internet presence or the registration of a personal brand. If this increase occurs without justification, the DNS domain name system could also be put at risk, leading to parallel systems being created and popularized, with the aim of avoiding Verisign's dependence and new prices, putting the Internet stability at risk. >From what I understand, it would give verisign the power to adjust prices...at will. While this may have some advantages, its putting SMEs at great disadvantage. In Africa, It's hard enough that so many factors (ranging from government policies to structural amenities) are militating SME growth or scaling but now add a sudden probable change to price of .com domains.
